Norton anti-virus bug

Norton Utilities problem after upgrading to XP
One of the my shortcuts ( to unistall icq ) became a dos style box. Running a ram duagnostic in Norton, after the crash, shows a ram failure. If I unistall the offending game and without rebooting, the ram check returns to normal. change refresh rates or change screen ressolution. Again, after I uninstall the offender everything returns to normal. Does anyone have any solutions.
